Insurance Terms

The rented car is covered by liability and comprehensive insurance provided by Hyre or the car owner.

What is insured?

The person or cargo vehicle specified in the rental agreement.

What is the extent of insurance coverage?

Mandatory Liability Insurance

The insurance covers the renter's liability for damage that occurs during the use of the vehicle as a motorized vehicle under traffic law provisions, including:

  • Personal injury
    • To persons outside the car
    • To passengers in the car
  • Property damage
    • To buildings and other objects
    • To other vehicles

Comprehensive and Fire Insurance

The insurance covers the vehicle specified in the rental agreement.

  • Comprehensive Coverage
    • Damage to the vehicle itself, including collision and vandalism
  • Fire Damage
    • Including explosion, short circuit, or lightning strike
  • Theft and Robbery
    • Theft of the vehicle itself and theft of permanently installed equipment from the vehicle
    • Damage to the vehicle in connection with attempted theft of the vehicle
  • Glass - Repair of stone chips and replacement of the windshield
  • Roadside Assistance in connection with a covered damage incident

Additionally covered:

  • Standard tools, including charging cable for electric vehicles
  • Extra equipment up to 15,000 DKK (including safety equipment, e.g., child seat)
  • Transportation after damage to the nearest repair shop
  • Personal luggage belonging to others than the renter or driver, up to 15,000 DKK

What is not covered by the insurance?

In some cases, the insurance company may fully or partially deny a claim and seek recourse from the renter. The most common cases are:

  • Intent - damage caused intentionally by the renter
  • Gross negligence
  • Driving under the influence
  • Reckless driving
  • Providing false information

Additionally, the insurance does not cover:

  • Driving on race tracks
  • Driving with goods for payment
  • Passenger transport (including Uber, taxi, etc.)
  • Further rental by the renter to third parties
  • Fines, etc.
  • Natural disturbances, war, etc.

Important to Know

Reporting a Claim

Claims must be reported by the renter on the website or app to the service provider, who will forward the report to the insurance company.

Seniority and Bonus Deduction

No seniority is earned while driving the car. Therefore, there will also be no bonus deduction in the event of damage.

Damage Below Deductible

For minor damages that are below the deductible, the renter will only be charged the total cost (repair costs, rental car costs, administration fees, and charges), not the full deductible amount.

Renter's Deductible According to Rental Regulations:

  • Liability damages: 5,000 DKK per damage
  • Comprehensive and Fire damages: 5,000 DKK per damage
  • Theft and robbery damages: 5,000 DKK per damage
  • Glass damages: 5,000 DKK per damage(0 DKK deductible for stone chip repairs)
  • For a combined damage incident, only one deductible will be charged per claim event.

The deductible for the renter may be lower if this has been purchased during booking or if the renter has purchased a subscription with a lower deductible.
