What types of bookings does Hyre offer?

If you choose to book a car via 'Drive Now', you start a rental immediately after selecting your preferred car. The car is reserved as long as it is available, with a maximum duration of 24 hours. The deposit here is DKK 2,000. You can return the car at any time within these 24 hours, and you only pay for the time you used the car, per started hour. If you wish to use the car for more than 24 hours, you can extend the rental as long as the car is available, but you will pay for the entire period from when you first started the rental to your chosen time for the extension. Thus, you pay for the entire period, even if you return the car before your booking ends.

If you choose to book a car via 'Reserve', you select a time for picking up and returning the car in advance. The car is reserved for the chosen period. The deposit here is DKK 1,000. You can return the car at any time during the reserved period, but you will still be charged for the entire reserved period. If you wish to extend the rental, you can do so as long as the car is not already reserved by someone else.

What is the age limit for renting a car from Hyre?

You must be at least 18 years old to rent a car from Hyre. An additional insurance fee is charged for customers under 23. The age of your youngest driver determines the price increase for the rental time and km:

18 years: 30%

19 years: 26%

20 years: 20%

21 years: 18%

22 years: 16%.

Which driving licenses are accepted?

We accept all European driving licenses in credit card format. If you have another type of driving license, please include a confirmation from the Danish Road Safety Agency that your driving license is valid in Denmark. German driving licenses issued before January 2013, which have no expiration date, will have an expiration date of 15 years from the date of issue, according to Hyre.

How do I access Hyre?

You become a user by creating an account with MitID. We automatically check whether your driving license is valid.

How does the credit assessment work?

We credit assess everyone who creates a new account with Hyre. This is part of the registration process. We do this to ensure that our customers are solvent so that we can maintain a favorable offer.

Where can I find Hyre?

Hyre is available in Copenhagen, Stockholm in Sweden, and Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim in Norway.

How do I unlock the car?

Your mobile is the key, which you use to unlock the car. The app connects to the car via Bluetooth, and you unlock it with a single click.

How do I cancel a booking?

At Hyre, it is free to cancel a booking up to 24 hours before the rental begins. Read Hyre’s terms for any fees associated with a cancellation.

How do I rent a car?

You now have two options in the app: 'Drive Now' and 'Reserve'. Choose 'Drive Now' if you need the car immediately. All available cars near you will now be shown on the map. The car you select can be picked up within the next 24 hours. When you book with 'Drive Now', you only pay for the time you use the car. If you wish to book a car for later use, press 'Reserve'. Select the pickup and drop-off times and see which cars are available during the selected period on the map. Choose the car that suits you best and confirm your booking at the bottom of the screen.

How does the damage inspection work?

Before you can get behind the wheel and before you return the car, you must upload pictures of it. The photos are your assurance that the car is returned in the same condition as when you picked it up. You can take as many pictures as you want, both before, during, and after the rental.

Oops! I accidentally took pictures of the wrong car.

Don't worry. On the booking screen, just go to 'Take More Damage Control Photos' and take as many pictures as you want to document the condition of the car.

How do I contact Hyre during the rental?

What do I do about refueling?

In all Hyre cars, there is a Circle K card that can be used at both Circle K and Ingo. You will find the card in the sun visor on the driver's side. The code for this card can be found in the app under the "Refuel Gasoline" / "Refuel Diesel" tab on your active booking. You can also refuel with your own card. If you use the Circle K card, your final settlement will take an additional three days.

Driving to recycling stations for private use.

All vans leased by Hyre under CVR number are whitelisted at all A-R-C (Amager Resource Center) recycling stations.

The next time you rent a yellow plate car and drive to the recycling station, you just need to apply for an exemption while you are there. You will approach the staff at the recycling station, and they will provide you with an exemption card with a QR code, which you scan.

The procedure is as follows:

The QR code must be scanned within 30 minutes of the renter's arrival at the recycling station.

Check the box for daily permit/rental permit.

Enter your mobile number for confirmation.

Take a picture of the rental agreement.

Press send application.

Can we have multiple drivers?

Yes, you can add as many drivers as you want. It is even free at Hyre. All you need to do is select 'Add Additional Driver' on the booking screen in the app. But remember, the person or persons you add must create their own account so they also have access to the rental in the app and, of course, have a valid driver's license.

Where can I park the car?

All our cars have a car-sharing license! This means you can park for free in all public parking spaces, 24/7. However, not in other spaces for car-sharing/electric cars. The exception to this rule is in the Red Zone from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday. If you wish to park here during that time, you will need to pay for parking as usual. This can be done directly via the EasyPark feature in our app. The car’s own parking space can also be freely used throughout your booking. Remember that the vehicle must be returned to its own parking space when you end your booking. Parking on private spaces must be paid for using the EasyPark feature in the app.

What if the car is low on windshield washer fluid?

Windshield washer fluid is replenished in the cars every two weeks during cleaning. There should always be a jug of windshield washer fluid in the trunk that can be used freely to refill. If there is no more washer fluid in the trunk, please contact customer service.

Do I need to wash the car before returning it?

A good rule is to return the car in the same condition that you would want to receive it. Always remember to clean the interior and, if necessary, wipe the steering wheel and gear lever with hand sanitizer.

Is there BroBizz in the cars?

We have BroBizz integrated into all cars via license plate scanning, which works at the Great Belt Bridge, Øresund Bridge, and several ferries.

Can I drive to other countries?

Yes, you can freely drive a Hyre car in all EU countries and Norway. Contact us if you also want to drive to other countries.

Can I return the car before the rental period is over?

If you booked a car using 'Drive Now', you only pay for the time you used the car. If you rented a car in advance using 'Reserve', you will pay for the entire period you reserved. The rental price will not be reduced, even if you return the car before you have to.

What happens if I am late returning the car?

You can extend your rental under 'Extend Rental' on the reservation screen. If that doesn’t work, it means that someone else has booked the car after you. In that case, you should contact us via chat or call +45 52 51 26 99.

I’m having trouble connecting to the car.

Make sure you have activated Bluetooth and location services. If they are turned on and it still doesn't work, call us at +45 52 51 26 99, and we will help you on-site.

I received a fine - what should I do?

If you are responsible for the fine, you must pay it yourself. Resolve it as soon as possible to avoid late fees and additional costs from parking companies.

I'm having trouble starting the car.

This may be due to the car's immobilizer being activated. Try unlocking the car again using ‘Unlock’ in the app, double-check that the car is in 'Park', and press the brake pedal. Then try again.

What happens if I lose my phone or it runs out of battery?

You can use someone else's phone and log in with your own MitID. If that is not an option, call us at +45 52 51 26 99, and we will help you on-site.

What if the car’s designated parking space is occupied upon return?

If the car’s designated parking space is occupied/unavailable upon return, please send photographic documentation via our chat. Then find the nearest public parking space within a radius of approximately 250 meters, and complete your booking as usual. Inform us of the car's current location so that the next renter can be informed. To ensure smooth parking, please follow these important rules and conditions:

Park in a regular, public parking space.

Do not park in car-sharing or electric vehicle spaces.

Do not park in time-limited parking spaces.

Respect all signage and parking regulations.

Do not park in the red parking zone in the Municipality of Copenhagen.

Remember that as the renter, you are fully responsible for proper parking and compliance with all the aforementioned conditions and applicable parking rules/laws. Hyre does not cover parking fines and does not assume responsibility in case of fines.

Can I return the car wherever I want?

All Hyre cars have a designated space where they are both picked up and returned. You can see this in the parking description in the app. Make sure to park the car legally before you complete the rental. If the car was illegally parked when you picked it up or was slightly askew relative to the parking description, do not repeat the mistake. You will be responsible for any potential parking fines.

When will the reserved amount be released?

The reserved amount will be released once you have returned the car... If we cannot charge the amount, it will be deducted from the reserved amount, and the remaining amount will be released.

My settlement shows a negative amount; what does that mean?

Does that mean Hyre owes me money? How is that possible? If your settlement is negative, we will issue a voucher. A voucher that you can use the next time you want to rent a car from Hyre or save for later use.

What is covered by the insurance?

What is the deductible?

The rented car is insured for liability and comprehensive coverage with If Skadeforsikring.

Liability damage: 5,000 DKK

Comprehensive and fire damage: 5,000 DKK

Theft and robbery damage: 5,000 DKK

Glass damage: 5,000 DKK

What is included in the rental price?

The rental price includes insurance and 100 km per day. Each rental day provides an additional 100 km, and you can freely allocate the kilometers over the entire rental period. Fuel and extra kilometers driven are added on top.

Should I return the car with a full tank?

We encourage our customers to return the car with a full tank. We calculate the number of liters in the tank before and after the rental period. If you return the car with a lower fuel level than when you picked it up, you will be charged a price per liter. Conversely, if you return the car with a higher fuel level, you will receive a discount per liter. You can see the latest fuel prices in the app when you make your reservation. If the discount is greater than the total rental price, you will receive a voucher that you can use at a later time.
